GOOGLE RANKINGS AND THE DARK SIDE OF AI

AI, or Artificial Intelligence, is being hailed as the next great thing in the digital era that we live in.  But when it comes to Cape Coral SEO (search engine optimization), the impact of AI is not always favorable.  It’s not just not always favorable, but if you depend on AI too much, it will most certainly have a negative result with Google.  And we all know that Google can pretty much decide the success or the ruin of your business.  To be more specific, here are the reasons:

  • SEO NEEDS A HUMAN TOUCH

SEO is about personally relating to your audience, not only about keywords and algorithms. AI, even though it’s powerful, it lacks the emotional intelligence and cultural awareness needed to produce content that is appealing to actual humans. Ignoring these human-centric approaches could cause your audience to disengage , therefore affecting your Google results.

  • TOO MUCH OPTIMIZATION AND KEYWORD STUFFING

Content is being mass produced using artificial intelligence techniques, which usually uses particular keywords to get it’s search results.  AI lacks the subtlety of real language though. The end effect is material that could be too idealized or filled with keywords to the point of seeming artificial. You are left with generic content that has the same general outline as many other sites out there. Google’s algorithms are meant to identify duplicate content, and if you are flagged as such a site, you could face declining rankings and possibly even fines.

  • PLAGIARISM POSSIBILITIES

AI is not perfect! In it’s search for answers to your questions or content you  need for your website, AI could unintentionally produce content that is similar to content already published. Even if unintentional, Google will penalize you and there will be major repercussions and huge damage to your reputation with Google. Anyone who has experienced Google penalties can tell you that coming back from Google’s distrust in you, is close to impossible. Your material has to be unique and plagiarism-free. Using something that is artificial just isn’t worth the risks.

  • LACKING UNIQUENESS AND OFTEN REPETITIVE

Often repetitive, AI content lacks any uniqueness or inventiveness that only a human writer can bring to the table.  Google looks for original content.  AI lacks the uniqueness and inventiveness human writers bring to the table. You need to have high quality contentthat is beneficial to the consumer. You won’t stand out in search results if your website is full of generic content that only mimics what is already out there.

  • SEO IS ABOUT UNDERSTANDING YOUR USER’S INTENT

Success with SEO depends on an awareness of user intent. Although AI is a champ at analyzing data and even predicting trends, it is completely incapable of understanding human behavior and preferences. This can produce material that doesn’t quite fit with what consumers are actually looking for.  This causes a bad user experience and therefore, reduced rankings.

  • REDUCED ENGAGEMENT

Google’s ranking takes into account the time someone spends on a page, the  bounce rate, and the click-through rate to name a few things.  AI written content can not properly captivate you consumers, especially if it isn’t catered to your demographics.  People visiting your site will find your material to be unpleasant and irrelevant, causing them to more likely leave your site quickly.  By doing this, your rankings will decrease.

  • YOUR COMPETITION

The competition is more intense as more companies use artificial intelligence for content production and SEO. The difference disappears if everyone is maximizing their material using similar artificial intelligence methods. This overload can make it more difficult for your website to reach and sustain high ranks since the algorithms struggle to decide which material is really better.

The short version of all of this is that although AI has it’s place in today’s SEO strategies, it is important to recognize the pitfalls.  If you rely too heavily on AI driven content, it is very likely to cause over-optimization, lack of originality, and a disconnection with your audience—all of which will hurt your Google rankings.  Although AI can be a powerful tool if used correctly, the cons of being “found out” by Google far outweigh any of the pros.  Only you can decide if it is worth the risk.  I, myself, think I will skip on taking those chances.  Not much gets by Google!  Please think hard about that before making your decision.
